Medical Coverage
McClatchy's health care plans are designed to provide our benefit-eligible employees with comprehensive and affordable care. Additional information on medical coverage is listed below.

McClatchy's medical plans, administered by Aetna, help make it easy for you to get the care you need.
Care Overview
Both plans cover the same types of procedures and services and you’ll have access to the same large network of doctors and facilities throughout the country; however, they differ in the way the cost of care is structured and in the strategies you can use to control your expenses.
By enrolling in one of McClatchy's health plans you have access to all of the plans and programs mentioned below. You may never need every feature. But if you do, they’re there for you.
Aetna's health plan covers certain preventive services — like shots and screening tests — at no cost to you.
- Preventive Care Screenings

Savings Advantage with HSA Plan
This is a traditional PPO plan with a high deductible and a Health Savings Account (HSA) that you can use to save and pay for qualified health care expenses now or in the future. With the Savings Advantage plan, you’ll pay a lower monthly premium contribution and McClatchy contributes to your HSA to jumpstart your savings. You pay the full cost of care until you reach your deductible, then the plan will pay coinsurance until you reach your out-of-pocket maximum. In-network preventive care is covered 100%.

The Summary of Coverage (SOC) is a snapshot of McClatchy's medical plan rules, limits and exceptions explained in easy-to-understand terms.
McClatchy will contribute the amounts listed below to each employee enrolled in the Savings Advantage Plan and meets the IRS HSA eligibility rules.
- Contributions will be deposited into the employee's Health Savings Account (HSA) in two installments.
- To be eligible for the contribution, employee must be actively employed by McClatchy and enrolled in the Savings Advantage Plan on the date of the installment.
Midyear enrollments should refer to the Employer Contribution Schedule.
Classic Care Plan
In this plan, you choose any physician or hospital for care, but pay less when you receive care from an in-network provider. With the Classic Care PPO, you pay more in monthly premium contributions than the Savings Advantage plan and pay co-pays or coinsurance after meeting the deductible. In-network preventive care is covered 100%.
