Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

If you’re looking for help, McClatchy's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a great place to start. EAP gives you free, confidential support, resources and referrals for every aspect of your work and personal life.

In partnership with Aetna, all employees receive unlimited access to online resources, 24/7 telephone access to licensed behavioral health professionals and up to five face-to-face visits in person and via televideo with a counselor per person and per-incident each year. Co-pays and deductibles are not subject to this benefit.

Teladoc Behavioral Health

McClatchy's health plans include Teladoc Behavioral Health offers support for anxiety, eating disorders, depression, grief, family difficulties and more.

  • You may use the same provider throughout the course of care
  • All sessions include treatment and goal setting
  • Emergency protocols are in place if an at-risk member needs crisis care
  • For ongoing care, nurse outreach evaluates care and provides additional guidance

  4. Fill out a brief emotional health questionnaire. After that, your therapist will select which time and date fits in their schedule and confirm it with you.

AbleTo Program

The AbleTo program help you take charge of your emotional and mental health with 8-week virtual therapy and well-being programs personalized to your specific needs and goals.
McClatchy's health plans include access to the convenient eight-week AbleTo program which provides counseling and coaching by video or phone.  The program is designed to help you:
  • Work through normal emotions such as worry, depression, confusion and anger
  • Understand and stick with your treatment plan
  • Know the types of changes you need to make
  • Feel like you are in control of your health and your life
You’ll work with two AbleTo specialists for eight weeks. Once a week you'll work with a therapist to address emotional challenges like depression, stress and anxiety that can come with a medical diagnosis as well as a behavior coach to identify health goals and develop an action plan. That’s two sessions a week, including a final meeting with your therapist.
The goal of the AbleTo eight week program is to make it easy for you to complete the program. And to help you see that you are in control and can make healthy changes.

As part of McClatchy's EAP, all employees have access to myStrength, a free digital mental health program is based on clinical models like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and positive psychology.

The personal information you provide generates customized information and resources relevant to you like motivational resources and e-learning programs to help you manage thoughts or feelings.

McClatchy's Wellness Program sponsored by Virgin Pulse is designed to improve all aspects of our lives!
